Boeing 737-500 Film Set Prop

Boeing 737-500 Film Set Prop

2 complete 737-500 fuselages, including one complete with wings and tail feathers. Both aircraft were last configured as business class commuter for the Guns'N Roses rock band tour to transport personnel between venues.

The aircraft reached its useful service life and was condemned in November 2022. The operator harvested all the useful high value parts for resale. The order of events for this process was as follows:

  1. Both aircraft flew there last flights into Kelowna International Airport for a scheduled "heavy inspection" by KF Aerospace.
  2. Operator determined the required maintenance to return the aircraft to service exceeded the value of the aircraft.
  3. The aircraft was hoisted onto blocks so the landing gear could be removed. All engines, avionics, components, and other high value items were removed for re-sale by the operator.
  4. All hazardous fuels and oils were carefully drained from the airframe.
  5. The Remaining fuselages, including the complete and pre-existing cabin interior, was carefully and strategically cut into 30', 20' and 30' sections by Flight Flix and Global Aircraft personnel. The second 737 has the same story but was cut into 40' and 50' sections keeping the tail complete.

Two Real 737-500 Fuselages, Five Rentable Sections

FlightFlix has two complete Boeing 737-500 fuselages cut from airframes that last flew for a Guns N' Roses tour commute. One ship set includes wings and tail feathers. The other was sectioned for flexible delivery.

You get five sections from 20' to 50' long, ranging from 7,000 to 16,000 lbs. Rent one piece for a cockpit insert or line up multiple sections for a full-length cabin on stage.

  • Crash and wreckage scenes

We stock cut-up fuselage pieces built for crash set dressing. Pair them with a detached MLG assembly or wing sections when you need debris in frame, not just a clean tube.

  • Action and thriller shoots

Full circumference sections with working cabin doors read real on camera. Crews use these for boarding sequences, in-flight tension, and emergency evacuations without building from scratch.

  • Period and airline branding

Interiors came out of real commuter configs. Re-seat, re-brand, and shoot. Business class leather sets and factory-new 737-800 Max seating are in inventory if you need a specific look.

Cockpit That Reads on Camera

Section 1 includes a forward cockpit with original switches, dials, and flight controls still in place. Digital displays are reproduced from paper cut-outs so the panel looks in-service under close-up.

120v lighting runs through the cockpit and cabin. Crew seats have working buttons and controls where you'd expect them for pilot coverage and insert shots.

  • Configurable cabin

Seats, galleys, overhead bins, and lavatories all come out. Current layout runs 12 economy plus a business row for 16 passengers, but we rebuild to your floor plan.

  • Wings and tail available

737 #2 keeps the aft structure intact for tail feather attachment. We also have two complete wing sections and business class leather seating for 28 when you need more in frame.

Modular Sections for Big or Small Productions

Section 1 and Section 3 can bolt together for a 60' fuselage run. Section 4 and 5 split the second aircraft into 41' and 50' pieces with baggage hold access and landing gear bays where noted.

Need pieces in two cities? Sections ship independently on flatdecks. Tell us your schedule and we'll work out delivery order.

  • Crash scene inventory

Cut fuselage sections, fabricated MLG, and wing pieces sit in our yard ready to rent. Art departments use them for ramp debris, investigation scenes, and aftermath shots.

  • Business class seating

14 like-new leather business seat sets (28 seats total) are available separately. Full recline, fold-out tables, blue and cream leather. Dimensions: 55" wide x 30" deep x 46" tall per set.

On-Set Support and Safe Handling

These sections are heavy industrial props. Section 1 needs a 15,000 lb forklift with 10' extensions, two 5,000 lb forklifts, or a 12k telehandler for placement. Larger sections need two 12k telehandlers or a 50-ton crane.

FlightFlix crews know the lift points, the steel frames, and how to get you shooting without surprises on day one.

Section Breakdown for Production Planning

Section 1: 30' x 12.5' x 10', 8,000 lbs. Cockpit, galley, lav, 15' cabin.
Section 2: 20' centre fuselage with gear bay, 8,000 lbs.
Section 3: 30' aft with galley and lav, 7,000 lbs.
Section 4: 41' forward on aircraft #2, 11,000 lbs.
Section 5: 50' aft with tail attach points, 16,000 lbs.

  • Sections 1 and 2

Forward and centre pieces for cockpit work, passenger cabin, and overwing exit coverage. Section 2 stays open on both ends for walk-through blocking.

  • Sections 3 and 4

Mid and forward-aft runs with galleys, lavs, and baggage hold access on the larger forward section. Interior on Section 4 rebuilds from stored parts.

  • Section 5

Aft fuselage with tail attach structure. Horizontal stabilizer, vertical fin, and rudder can ship with it when your script calls for a complete tail on the ground.

Real 737 hardware, ready when your production is.

FlightFlix keeps these sections in stock so you're not waiting on a one-off build. We've sectioned airliners for film work for over 15 years. If you need a specific layout, seat count, or crash dressing, ask. We probably already have it in the yard.

Two Boeing 737-500 fuselages, five rentable sections, plus wings, tail components, seating inventory, and crash dressing pieces. Built from airframes retired in 2022 after tour and commuter service. All hazardous fluids drained. Steel transport frames on sectioned pieces where noted on the tech sheet.

Tips for Successful Filming

  1. Plan ahead: Walk us through your shot list early. We can tell you which sections fit, what lighting is already wired, and what rigging you'll need on the day.
  2. Talk to the art department: Seats, galleys, and bins come out. If you need a specific layout, send a floor plan and we'll prep before delivery.
  3. Scout the load-in: These are heavy pieces. Confirm forklift or crane access, door widths, and stage height before you lock dates.
  4. Build in setup time: Most crews want a full day to dress the set and run lighting before actors step in. Budget for that.
  5. Match the story: A 737 reads as a 737 on camera. Use the real doors, bins, and galley carts. That's what you're renting this for.
